The Argentine star, who joined the Merseyside giants from Brighton in 2023, has emerged as a reported target for Real Madrid. The World Cup winner has reportedly leapfrogged Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi in Madrid’s pecking order of midfield targets. However, when asked directly about these rumours, Mac Allister provided a composed and grounded response.

In an interview with TyC Sports journalist Gastón Edul, the Argentine international acknowledged the buzz around him but stressed that he remains focused on his commitments with Liverpool.
“I read the rumours and the news reaches me, but the important thing is the present. No matter how much the club loves me, if I play poorly this weekend, they’ll lose interest,” he said.
This is not the first time the Mac Allister camp has addressed transfer speculation. Earlier in April, the player’s father, Carlos Mac Allister, made it clear that his son is not planning an early exit from Liverpool and intends to fulfil his contract that runs until 2028.
Echoing his father, Mac Allister said: "I’m fine at Liverpool and I don’t have any need. So, I have a lot of respect for the club, and I don’t think it’s necessary to talk about other clubs."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Mac Allister also shed light on his experience adjusting to life in England and the support he’s received from fans and team-mates alike. Despite being far from home, he described a strong connection with the local community and a deep appreciation for the club’s ethos.
“I’m a little far away, so some fans greet you with respect, but in the city, they are more passionate. The club is like a family. One phrase sums it all up: You’ll never walk alone,” he said.

While speculation continues to swirl, Mac Allister is laser-focused on Liverpool’s title ambitions. Arne Slot’s side, sitting atop the table, have the opportunity to clinch their 20th top-flight crown – potentially equalling Manchester United’s record – this coming Sunday at Anfield, against a Tottenham Hotspur side battling poor form.
