Spurs faced strong competition for the signing of Bergvall as Barcelona had shown interest in signing him. Djurgarden's sporting director confirmed in December that there had been talks with the Spanish club. The youngster, who made his Sweden debut in January, met with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and coach Ange Postecoglou on Monday before travelling to Barcelona to meet with officials from the Catalan club.
