According to, most players, coaches, and staff were already aboard the team bus, waiting for a few remaining players to complete post-match doping tests. Suddenly, a VIP hostess stormed onto the bus, visibly distraught, her makeup smeared by tears. She bypassed a police officer with a submachine gun and four stewards stationed at the entrance β none of whom stopped her β and walked straight up to head coach Antonio Di Salvo, seated at the front. Without a word, she raised her phone and took multiple photos inside the bus.
WHAT WAS SAID
A stadium supervisor told : "German players simply stole around 15 beer mugs. They probably think it's all free β but it isn't. That's why my employee ran onto the bus. She wanted to take photos as evidence."
But the German camp quickly denied the accusation. U21 press officer Markus Beer responded, telling : "It was all completely different. The woman had brought several beer mugs into the catacombs, presumably for the referees. Then later, empty mugs were there, which were suddenly gone. Someone must have thrown them away. She obviously thought our players had simply taken them. But that was definitely not the case."

As of now, it remains unclear whether the deposit mugs, worth β¬3 each, were ever recovered. The Germany U21s will now turn their focus towards Saturday's Euro final against England, who won against Netherlands in the other semi-final.
