After missing out on United's first pre-season friendly match against Rosenborg in Norway on Monday, Amad was named in Ten Hag's starting lineup in the club's second friendly game against Rangers on Saturday. Ten Hag was left impressed by the young winger's performance against Rangers as he heaped praise on the player while claiming that he will become a star at Old Trafford in the upcoming campaign. Diallo missed the majority of last season due to a knee injury, limiting him to just 12 matches across all competitions, in which he scored twice and provided one assist.

WHAT ERIK TEN HAG SAID

Speaking to reporters after the friendly, the Dutchman said: "We have to see Amad in a different way. Of course, he’s still young but he is not inexperienced any more. Last season he had bad times with bad injuries. Before that, he was in the Championship and he had a great season.

"At the end of last season, he had a very good time in our first team and played some good games. Now for this season, this has to be the year. It’s great that he starts like this. On Monday he couldn’t play, he was not allowed to go into Norway, but today he could play and he played a very good game."
