Early wickets and a lack of substantial partnerships left Vidarbha at 206 for 6, well behind Tamil Nadu’s 403, in their Ranji Trophy quarter-final match in Jaipur.Aswin Crist struck twice in the sixth over of the day to dismiss Faiz Fazal (15) and Ganesh Satish (0) in successive deliveries. Opener Sachin Katariya joined by S Badrinath managed some resistance with a 72-run third-wicket partnership but both batsmen threw away their starts, leaving Vidarbha at 132 for 4. The rest of the middle order conformed to the same pattern, with Shalabh Shrivastava (39) and Urvesh Patel (31) not making substantial scores.Urvesh was bowled by L Balaji off what was the last ball of the third day, but Ravi Jangid remained not out after a painstaking innings of 26 off 121 balls.Crist was the most successful bowler for Tamil Nadu, claiming figures of 3 for 47, while Prasanth Parameswaran, Balaji and Malolan Rangarajan chipped in with one each.
